I was asked by Annah, one of the students on Ambers course to help with this project in regard to the lighting. Primarily it was a fashion photoshoot, whilst Amber also filmed a background behind the scenes montage. Prior to the shoot I enquired as to the look of the shoot, how she wanted it to look whilst also taking some time to look at the garments she had made. One of the main themes was that of questioning masculine stereotypes. I decided to therefore go with the LED panel lights as this would help create softer shadows and reaffirm the theme. I also the silver side of the light reflector to help form strong edges on the jawline.

sheffield transport research - times
With the journey taking roughly 1 hour 45 I think it would be best to leave myself 2 hours 15 to get there in case of traffic as getting from Withington to the city centre can as i have found many times take a bit longer than anticipated.
the times obviously show the times if i were to go this evening however the timings should be similar as the train there comes once every hour.
sheffield transport research - costs
These are screenshots of my research into transportation between my home address. At the cost of £8.10 plus £2 bus tickets also factoring in the cost of admittance at £3-£3.50 it will cost £13.10-£13.60 each time I attend one of the dances at the Sheffield City Hall based on me managing to get the cheapest train tickets.
Having spoken on the phone to them I have found that the dances will become far more frequent after the christmas/new year period which will allow me to become better known at the events.

Cutie and the Boxer
Cutie and the Boxer is a film following the
lives of Ushio and Noriko Shinohara. Made by Zachary Heinzerling in 2013 it
focuses on the 40 year marriage of the two Japanese artists. The key themes
being love, relationships and power. A young Art student Noriko falls for Ushio
at a young age and the film displays the relationship dynamic between the two.
This is a film that inspired the plan to look
at the relationship between one of the couples attending the dance. For me this documentary touches on the keys themes I want to explore within my film come the end of the year.

Geometric & Floral Pattern/UV Sportswear Senses
The two videos below are the results of my work with Amber Philips a Textiles student at MMU. She is developing a type of sportswear as part of her work in her final year and asked me to do the technical directing side of the film.
For this shoot we used a projector to put the image over the model. I had previously worked with projecting over people as part of my unit X in first year so was excited to use the knowledge I had gained and apply it into another format. I set up the projector at various distances so Amber could see how her designs looked at a range of sizes on the model. I also helped out with the camera settings to make sure there was no issues with how it came out in post-production.
This was a new experience for me as I have never filmed with UV lights and was unsure how well the footage would come out. After setting up the UV light and a large amount of tweaking of the camera settings we came out with something that I was very happy to be involved with.
These two shoots were quite experimental and I really enjoyed being involved, it was nice to take and apply knowledge from past work and also a lot of fun trying out something I had never before done. The two films look great (credit to Amber) and I am very pleased I hoped on board and was able to help at this stage of the process.
